Pasmo card

Could we order the prepaid Pasmo card for our other transportations when we order our JR Pass? And is it correct that we could use to make other purchases too? How do you reload your card? And returning it, could I return it a the KIX airport? Oh, how do we add the Hakone FreePass when we order our JR Pass? Thanks so much!

    Hello, Marthang!

Unlike the JR Passes, it would make no difference if you obtained your prepaid IC cards (Suica, Pasmo) beforehand. You should be able to pick one up right there at the airport.

You reload your card in a similar way most people obtain them, by going to a ticket machine that has them, setting the machine to your preferred language and choosing 'Pasmo' on the touch screen for the Pasmo-related options.

Yes, you can use the IC card for simple purchases at convenience stores and such, but not all are participating establishments.

Even though the Pasmo is interopable with other IC card systems throughout Japan, Pasmo itself is offered only in Greater Tokyo. So unfortunately, you wouldn't have the option to return it at KIX. If you plan to return to Japan within 10 years, you could simply keep it, as it will remain valid.

This is the sales page for Hakone Free Pass https://www.japan-rail-pass.com/pass-regional/east/hakone-free-pass/order

You should be able to add it to your shopping cart with the JR Pass.
