Osaka to Kawaguchiko - JR Pass will work? And then Osaka to Fukuoka

We are landing in Osaka, traveling to Mt. Fuji (Kawaguchiko) but not to Tokyo. After we return to Osaka we are going to Fukuoka. It seems the JR pass would be worthwhile, but when I search the route and timetable for Osaka to Kawaguchiko, it says a JR pass won't work for the whole trip. What happens then? Do we pay extra for the parts of the trip that aren't permitted through the JR pass? Thanks!

Hi,
Yes, you'd need to pay for what is not covered. You could either go from Osaka to Otsuki, and change to a non-JR train and pay the rest of the way. Or you could just take the bullet train to Mishima Stn and then pay for a bus or if you are going to stay in the area, a Fuji-Hakone Pass might be worthwhile.

Generally for the Mt Fuji area, you can choose the Fuji 5 Lakes area, Hakone, or see both. Seeing Hakone from Osaka would be a lot easier and more convenient.

We are going to Mt. Fuji too. We will be travelling from Tokyo. is it right we use the JR pass all the way to Odawara station, then buy a Hakone 3day pass for the rest of the journey. We are planning to stay 2 nights in K's house Hakone. I suppose we need to take Hakone Tozan train to K's house Hakone. ?

what are the daily opeartion hours of each the transport with the hakone pass. I realised it is not mentioned., or did I miss them somewhere.
(we have not decide what time to go Mt. Fuji depending on our previous schedule. )
