Kansai Airport - Kyoto - Osaka - Kansai Aiport

Will JR KANSAI PASS be sufficient?
What is the differences between JR KANSAI WIDE AREA PASS and JR KANSAI PASS?

Jason

  • The Kansai area passes are rather difficult to make worthwhile. It's unclear if you are giving your full itinerary. If so, depending on how many days you are on the pass, it might not pay off.

The difference between the 2 passes is that the coverage area for is quite different. You can see both on:

The JR Kansai Area Pass can be good for 1-4 days (your choice) and the Wide Pass only for 5 days. You can also ride the bullet train on the Wide Pass, but not between Osaka and Kyoto.

Unless you're going long distance to a few places like Himeji, neither pass will likely pay off. Maybe the Kansai Area Pass would if your stay is only a few days and you are going on a long trip nearly every day (from/to KIX, to Himeji, etc).

You can see regular fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia.

You might instead consider the Icoca & Haruka discount ticket.
