Travel Beyond Pass Coverage - how?

Hi,

I would like to ask regarding "Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass".
It is understood that this pass will cover the Hokuriku (Tsurugi/Hakutaka) shinkansen up to Toyama station. However, my itinerary requires me to travel beyond Toyama on the same shinkansen line.

My final destination will require me to travel up to Kurobe-UnazukiOnsen which is one station after Toyama.

In such cases, do I take the shinkansen to Toyama, get off and then buy another ticket to continue onto Kurobe-UnazukiOnsen or is there any other way where I don't have to get off the train?

Please advise.

You must change trains at Toyama. From there you need to take a non-JR train, so that is where you need to buy the ticket.

However, my journey will require me to take the same train. Do i still need to get off and then hop onto the same JR train at a later time?

I think I understand now. You can get off the train but you don't have to. Just keep riding. Either you'll arrive at Kurobe-Unazuki Onsen and you pay at the exit, or some JR ticket guy will find you and make you pay while riding on the spot.
