  • Hi,
No JR Pass can help you here - you'd need to travel a lot more to make a 14 day pass pay off.
For Hakone, a Hakone Free Pass can help you though.

The Loop Course is a common way to see all the sights and takes a full day.

  • We are travelling with a family of five adults and two children arriving Tokyo 28th December for 5 nights, then Osaka for 3 nights, Hiroshima for 1 night, Kyoto for 2 nights then back to Tokyo for 2 nights then to Hakuba for 7 nights leaving Tokyo on the 17th January. Is it worthwhile buying a 14 day pass for travel from first leaving Tokyo on 2nd December and then buying ticket from Hakuba to Tokyo or would a 21 day pass be better. Also is it worth buying a green class seeing as we are travelling at a time which would seem to be very busy.
    Cheers Kylie
  • Hi Dear,

My vacation in japan for 8 day and jr pass is only available for 7,14 and 21 day can you advise me...and this JR Pass(bullet train) is that can be use in two way example
    Osaka to tokyo
    Tokyo to Osaka

    Thank you
  • Hi,
Yes, you can certainly use the JR Pass with the bullet trains for Tokyo-Osaka, but you cannot ride the fastest train (the Nozomi) with the pass. You'll need to ride the Hikari train, which has about 2 departures per hour. I strongly suggest you avoid the Kodama bullet trains if you can - they stop at every single bullet train station and it would take you an extra hour to go between Tokyo and Osaka.
You can see regular fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia.

Under "More Options", be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box since you can't ride that train using the pass.

Please also note that if you go to the Fuji 5 Lakes area you can only get there part way on the JR Pass. From Otsuki Stn you'll need to pay for the Fujikyu train the rest of the way (about 1 hr, 1140 yen one way).
You may be able to see the shibazakura there.
