Hi, First time to Tokyo. I intend to travel from Tokyo to Kyoto and back to Kyoto. Which is more cost effective, to get a JR Pass or get purchase individual tickets
A return trip from Tokyo to Kyoto may cost about the same price as a JR Pass. You can check single train fares on www.hyperdia.com. If you purchase the JR Pass however, it does give you the flexibility to travel to other places while you are in Japan.
