Hi everyone, I am planing a trip (5-7days) with some friends to Japan(Staying in Osaka) next year. And i have a lot of questions about the train travels.
I've already decided to get a JR Pass, because we want to go to Tokyo for a day, and to Hiroshima for a day. The other 5days we plan on saying in Kansai(Visiting Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe). My question is, aside from the long distances(Osaka-Tokyo etc.) how exactly do we travel lets say from one point in osaka to another. Does the JR pass include the smaller rails? Can we use it on the metro stations? Are we going to need to use other transport that is payed outside the JR pass. Is there a map of all rails that JR pass covers, and if so where can i see it?
Thank you for everyithing, in advance!!

The JR Pass only covers JR lines, and no private railways (metro, local trains, local buses etc). Therefore the best way to travel within the cities themselves would be to purchase an IC card, which you can use on the metro:
