My wife and I are taking a cruise that ends in Yokohama on the 28th of Aug. We have a loose itinerary and trying to figure out if a rail pass will be worth it.
The 28th and 29th we plan to spend hiking Mt. Fuji
The 30th, 31st and 1st we plan to spend in Osaka/Kyoto
The 2nd and 3rd at Miyajima Island
The 4th at Hiroshima
The 5th fly out of Fukuoka
So questions are is a pass going to be worth it starting on the 30th down to Kyoto on.
Also would you change up the 7 day itinerary. If yes how
Prior to this we are spending 3 days in Tokyo then a cruise that goes north to Kushiro, Otaru, Hakodate, Aomori and Yokohama.

Your itinerary sounds great! We're sure you and your wife will have a lovely experience in the cities you have chosen to visit.
If you wish to use a JR Pass from Osaka/Kyoto onwards we would recommend purchasing the Sanyo San'in West Pass which will cover you for the remainder of your journeys.
