Good day all,
I am having a mental block in understanding the Japan Rail Pass and how I can use it. My family and I are in Tokyo in October 2018 with the following schedule:
4 x days Tokyo - Exploring just Tokyo
2 x days Hiroshima
2 x days Tokyo
Regarding JRP and Tokyo Travel (MRT) what is the best deal here?
Will JRP allow me to use the MRT around Tokyo for my first 4 days then,
Does the JRP allow me to travel in a Bullet Train to and from Hiroshima back to Tokyo?
Many thanks for the advice.
Jamie

A 7 day JR Pass would pay off well for a trip down to Hiroshima and back. You can use it on JR trains (though not the Nozomi bullet train). So yes, you can take a Hikari bullet train southwards, as well as the Yamanote line in Tokyo, Chuo Line etc. But you cannot use it on the subways.
If you want a cheap 3 day subway pass, there is one:
