Should I get a 14 day JRP for an October trip to Kyushu? day 1 Tokyo (Shinagawa Station) to Kagoshima day 3 Kagoshima to Kumamoto day 4 Bus to Kurokawa day 6 Bus to Nagasaki day 9 Nagasaki to Fukuoka day 11 Fukuoka to Tokyo
Need help with Travel to Izu itinerary Day 1 Haneda to Atami [2 nites] Day 2 Atami to Shuzenji (Darumayama-Kogen Rest House, Maple Forest, Bairin-guchi, Shuzenji Temple) and back Atami Day 3 Atami to Mt Omuru (chairlift) enroute to Dogashima [2 nites] Day 4 Dogashima/ explore Toi/Lover's cape Day 5 Dogashima back Atami [1 nite] Day 6 Atami to Shinagawa [3 nites]
What is the cheapest way from Haneda to Atami. Any rail pass?
Am thinking of using 3 day Dream pass (koganeji Route) (3700 yen) for Day 3 to Day 5 but the train segment is only 1 way so I need to buy a 1 day Izukyu rail pass (1000 yen) for the return to Atami. Is this correct?
If correct, can buy these 2 passes at Haneda airport or Atami station? Thank you.
Itchyfeet: Hi, You'd get more than your money for a 14 day pass with your plans, but I wouldn't. The bullet train from Tokyo to Kagoshima will take you over 7 hours, murdering the whole day. Fukuoka back to Tokyo is about 6 hours of sitting on trains and pulling your hair out. What you could do is fly cheaply down from Tokyo to Kyushu and use a Kyushu Rail Pass. You can get a special tourist airfare by ANA from Tokyo to Kagoshima for just ¥10,800 and arrive in less than 2 hours. http://ana.ms/20Xtf8t From Fukuoka, you can use the same fare, or even cheaper on a low cost carrier if you are flexible. http://www.jetstar.com/jp/en/home http://www.flypeach.com/pc/en What you could do is get a 5 day JR Kyushu Pass. Leave Kurokawa until the end since buses are not covered under the pass. For Kurokawa, you can use a Sun-Q bus pass if you want. https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2357_014.html
You can find regular rail fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia. http://www.hyperdia.com Under "More Options", be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box if on a full JR Pass since you can't ride that train using the pass.

First, it's better to start a new thread and not piggyback your question on someone else's.
There is no pass that can help you get to Izu for the length of your trip.
Where to buy the pass is listed on their webpage.
