Hi,
I am travelling for 23 days around Japan and wonder whether it is worth upgrading to green class for the trip. I'm aware that some of my journeys may not benefit from the upgrade. I would value any advice regarding the itinerary below:
Tokyo - Nikko
Nikko - Kanazawa
Kanazawa - Fujikawaguchiko
Fujikawaguchiko - Kyoto
Kyoto - Nara
Nara - Kobe
Kobe - Himeji
Himeji - Kinosakionsen
Kinosakionsen - Hiroshima
Hiroshima - Beppu
Beppu - Miyazaki
Miyazaki - Kagoshima
Kagoshima - Tokyo

The “Green JR Pass” entitles you to travel in the “Green” Cars, the equivalent of the 1st class, on all Shinkansen (except Nozomi and Mizuho).
The Green JR Pass gives you access to more space and to a complimentary heated towel (oshibori) as well as a free drink onboard.
Note that you always have to book your seat in advance with a Green Pass (you do not need to do so with the ordinary Pass).
This pass is a good idea if you plan to travel across Japan by train during the festive periods in Japan (April, August and November).
