Yes you can use the JR East Pass on the Izukyu Railway Lines between Ito and Shimoda, where Kawazu is located. Please be aware that as of the 1st April the JR East Pass is being discontinued, and split into two different passes. The JR East Tohoku Area Pass and JR East Nagano Niigata Area Pass.
We are travelling over 12 days - Narita - Tokyo then Tokyo- Hakuba, then we want to travel Hakuba- Kawaguchiko (Mt Fuji area) then back to Narita international airport. Will the five day JR East pass be OK to get us around?
Yes the JR East Pass will cover all these areas. The only section that will not be cover is the Fujikyu Line from Otsuki to Kawaguchiko, the cost of this journey will be 1140 yen.
