14 Day National JR Pass

Hello, we plan to visit Japan in the month of May for 13 days. We will fly into the Haneda airport on the day of arrival. The cities we will be visiting are:
- Tokyo - 4 days
- Kyoto - taking train from Tokyo and spend 4 days. During the 4 days we will take day trips to Osaka, Nara, etc.
- Hiroshima - from Kyoto to Hiroshima via train
- Miyajima - from Hiroshima and stay overnight in Miyajima
- Himeji - from Miyajima to Himeji and spend half day, then travel back to Tokyo for a few more days prior to going home.

We plan to buy the 14 Day National JR Pass. Please advise on what/which JR line we should be taking from one city to another, and if we need to get any subway pass when we are within Tokyo and Kyoto, or just the JR Pass will be sufficient.

- Haneda to Ginza in Tokyo
- Ginza to Kyoto
- Kyoto to Osaka
- Kyoto to Nara
- Kyoto to Hiroshima
- Miyajima to Himeji
- Himeji

Thank you very much and your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Winibgo

A 14 day JR Pass would be the cheapest way of traveling on these routes. You can use this website, www.hyperdia.com, to find the schedules for the days that you need to travel. To be sure you can use the JR Pass you need to untick the boxes in the search options for Nozomi and private railways. The results will then show you the routes you can use.

For travel with in Tokyo and Kyoto it would be best to get a Pasmo card. This is a pre-paid top-up card that you can use on the Tokyo Metro and local transport in Kyoto. You can find more information about these cards here: https://www.japan-rail-pass.com/services/pasmocard

    Hope that helps.

    Best regards
