23 days Tokyo/Kansai

Rail travel round trip from Narita to Kyoto first and last day of trip. Staying in Kyoto with day trips planned for Nara, Hiroshima-Miyajima, Himeji so far. Is it worth the JR Pass or better to buy tickets for each trip individually?
Thank you.

  • The maximum rail pass length is 21 days, and for the places you mention, you'd only make a 14 day rail pass pay off. So if you are unable to change your schedule, then no full JR Rail Pass will work for you.
That said, you could save some money with a Kansai-Hiroshma pass, which you can use to see Hiroshima-Miyajima & Himeji.

Seeing Hiroshima-Miyajima as a day trip is doable, but you need a very early morning start, and for Hiroshima City, please don't cheat yourself by just seeing the Peace Park and then leaving the city.
