ONE DAY IN TWO PLACE?

Was it possible to visit the NARA & HIMEJI in one day?

It is possible, if you have an early morning start, have a fairly brisk travel pace, do it between spring to early fall (when there are more daylight hours), and preferably on a weekday and non-peak tourist season.
Be aware though that it takes nearly 2 hours to get from Nara to Himeji. You can return after sunset since it does not really matter to see more after your return.
For Nara you should concentrate on the Nara Park area - the Todaiji Temple is a must, plus there is the historic Kofukuji Temple, Kasuga Shrine, deer feeding, and Isuien and Yoshikien Gardens.

For Himeji, the main places are of course the castle, plus the Kokoen Garden next to it. You would probably not have enough time to go up to Mt Shosha.

Seeing both Nara and Himeji on the same day is not ideal, and leaves some places unexplored, but if pressed for time, you can see the best in both areas.

    Hi,
Well, if you want to split them into 2 days, then you could do Nara for half or ¾ of a day, and also see Uji which is between Kyoto and Nara. Also Fushimi Inari is a must see place, and open 24/7 so easy to fit in anyone's schedule.
For Himeji, you could either make it a full day by seeing the castle, Kokoen Garden and Mt Shosha, or see the first 2 and take a half day and see Kobe - it also has some very nice sights.
Look them all up on www.japan-guide.com
    Best of luck.
