Luggage Storage

On my way from Fukuoka to Osaka by rail, I'll be stopping in Hiroshima for a day tour. Just wondering is it easy to store our luggage at the train station. We'll make sure to only have 1 medium luggage each with a backpack. I was also told that there are Hotel to Hotel delivery, however, I'll probably feel more comfortable to store them at the Station while I do my day tour.

  • Hi,
You'll find locker storage in nearly every train station. During peak seasons it may be harder to find one from the afternoon, depending on the size you need, but otherwise you should probably be fine.

The best sights of Hiroshima include the Peace Park/Museum, Shukkeien Garden, castle, and Mitakidera Temple.

The real jewel though is nearby Miyajima.
Don't miss Fukuoka either. It has some great places that are not well known. The Nanzoin Temple is one of the best in Japan and totally unknown to the tourist guidebook "experts".

  • Thank you so much, Tenjin. I will be staying in Fukuoka for 4 nights. I know it's going to be a bit tight with the Hiroshima day trip as I intend to leave Fukuoka early in the morning, store my luggage at the Station. I will have to try to visit the most popular sites, including Miyajima. I intend to catch the late train and check into my hotel at Osaka. Any suggestions for the places I can visit in Hiroshima, considering the time I have there. Thanks, Tenjin
  • Hi,
Well I already mentioned the best of Hiroshima City. The Mazda Museum might be nice too if you're interested, but you need reservations for it.
For Miyajima, everything rushes over to the Itsukushima Shrine with the giant "floating" torii, but the Daishoin Temple is also a must-see place (and free). There are several other pagodas and temples, and climbing Mt. Misen offers a fantastic view over the island and whole area. A stone's throw past Miyajima is also Iwakuni with its iconic bridge and castle, but you might not have enough time for it. There are videos you can see in the above link.
Four nights is really overkill for Fukuoka - doing a trip to Nagasaki would be excellent as well. It's one of the most interesting places in the island.
