Tokyo to Mt Fuji To Osaka

Just purchased the 7 days JR Pass.
Planning to spend 3 days in Tokyo and move to Osaka for another 3 days. Is it possible to leave Tokyo early and visit Mt Fuji on the way to Osaka in 1 day?
After that, will leave Osaka for Kyoto, is it ok to use the Pass from Osaka to Nara ant then Kyoto?

  • Are you returning to Tokyo within 7 days? If not, you just wasted over US$130. Even a round trip leaves you a little short compared to the cost of the pass. You could compensate for it with a day trip from Osaka to Hiroshima, or from Tokyo to Nikko, Karuizawa, Izu or Kusatsu.

As for seeing the Fuji area, a JR Pass only helps you part of the way. You could take the bullet train to Odawara, then buy a Hakone Free Pass to see Hakone.

Then return, but go to Mishima Stn and catch the bullet train for Kyoto.
Of course you can go to Nara, Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe on the pass. There are several rail companies though so make sure you go to a JR station.
  • My trip starts from Tokyo, Osaka, Nara, Kyoto and back to Tokyo again within 6 days. Does it worth for the JR pass?

I plan to go to Karuizawa to ski from Tokyo on my 7th day. How to get there?
  • The Tokyo to Kansai round trip puts you close to breaking even. You could take a JR train on your 7th day to Karuizawa, and buy a regular ticket for coming back. Then you would be getting your money's worth.

  • Need advise for my Japan trip. Will be spending 10days
    1. Tokyo-Hakone
    2. Hakone-Osaka
    3.Osaka-Kyoto
    4.Kyoto-Tokyo
    5.Tokyo-Toyama(Snow Wall)
    6.Toyama-Hiroshima
    7.Hiroshima-Tokyo

do i need to purchase 7 days JR pass or can i use JR pass for selective date?

First, it's better to start a new thread with a new question.

You never "need to purchase 7 days JR pass". The question is if you will save money on one. Your itinerary would certainly do that, but it is very unrealistic.
Toyama to Hiroshima is with a good connection about 5 hours by train. Hiroshima to Tokyo is another 5 hours. All that for one overnight trip??
Secondly, if you are talking about going on the Alpine Route, you'll end up in the middle of nowhere, requiring even more time. See:

You should consider skipping Toyama, or Hiroshima, or even both. You could see Kanazawa and Himeji though, which are both very good places.
Since you are already seeing Tokyo, you can largely skip Osaka during the day. After the temples of Kyoto close down around 5PM, you can zip over to Osaka for the evening. At night the city comes alive and has some great places to see, such as Dotonbori, plus the night views from the Umeda Sky Bldg and Abeno Harukas Bldg are wonderful.
Instead, you can use that daytime to see Nara, which has some of Japan's top sights.

You can see regular fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia.

Under "More Options", be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box since you can't ride that train using the pass.
