Haneda-Osaka-(Kyoto-Nara-Nagoya)-Tokyo-Haneda

First of all, how do I travel from Haneda to Osaka ?and do I activate the pass as soon as I arrive to go to Osaka ? I have 10 days to do the above travels which include Disneysea and Universal Studio
Or what combination passes should I take for a much better value as I’m traveling with my teen children
Thank you!

  • If you have a JR Pass, you can activate it at Haneda Airport and then use it for you trip. You'd take the Haneda monorail to Hamamatsucho Stn, then take the Yamanote Line to Shinagawa to catch the bullet train to Shin-Osaka.
The complete list of exchange offices is at

You did not give your arrival time, so be sure to check the office hours with that.

There is a cheaper alternative, however. You could get the japanican ticket to Osaka.

With this, you'd need to pay for the trains from Haneda (410 yen by the Keikyu train) to go to Shinagawa, and you'd need to pay for the fares between the Kansai cities, but overall it still comes out cheaper. You can also use the fastest bullet train, the Nozomi, with it getting you there 30 minutes faster and you get a free day of local transport. If going around a lot, there are some Kansai area passes also.

If spending at least 2 days in Tokyo, the 48 or 72 hour subway pass can save you money too.

For Kyoto and Nara, there are also 500 yen bus day passes if you want. The JR Pass has only a limited use in Kyoto.

You can see regular rail fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia.

Under "More Options", be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box if on a full JR Pass since you can't ride that train using the JR pass.

  • Thank you for the information. We will arrive at Haneda around 3pm 5th April, then we go to Osaka where we stay at Moriguchi. We will stay in Osaka as our first base to go to Universal, Kyoto, Nara, Nagoya we also want to see Mt Fuji if we can. Then on the 10th April we go to Tokyo where we stay at Shinagawa, we plan to go to Disney, then around Tokyo for the last legs before departing frm Haneda.
Is it worth it to get the 10 days pass, maybe not, the 7 days perhaps? I do travel with a 16 & 12 yr old.
Should I get Day passes instead? Thanks.
  • Hi,
There is no 10 day pass. There are 7, 14 & 21 day passes, but you do not travel enough to make a 14 day pass pay off.
