I am a student who will be living near Isehara station in Kanagawa. I will be in Japan for 1 month, and was wondering if the 21-day pass is worth it.
My friends and I plan on traveling to Tokyo often, as well as a weekend trip to:
1) Kyoto
2) Osaka
3) location TBD
Or is it simply better to get individual tickets since it seems that Isehara to Tokyo is not covered by the rail pass (odawara line)?

You are a long way from making a 21 day pass pay off - actually as you are, you are still a little short from making a 7 day pass pay off. You'd need to extend your travel quite a bit.
I suggest you try using the simple calculator to try various additions and see how they work.
If not going far, getting a 7 day pass and some regional passes will likely serve you better.
