Please advise if my travel itinary is covered fully by JR green pass.

Hi,

Can you please advise me if the following journeys are fully inclusive of the JR pass for two 7 day tickets? (or do we need to pay extra for some of the trips?)

First 7 day pass: 'Green Pass' Each passenger will be travelling with a large ski bag or a large suitcase, plus small day pack.

Travel from Niseko to Aomori, 20th December.

21st to Sukayu Onsen Ryokan, 50 Arakawa, Yamakokuyurinsuyuzawa, Aomori.

Back to Aomori 23rd.

Travel from Aomori 24th December to Hakuba.

Second 7 day pass: Ordinary pass. Each passenger has small back pack only.

Travel from Myoko, Thursday 8th January.

We are keen to head south west and visit Kyoto, and also try to get to Kochi, Then no other set plans till we fly home from Tokyo around midday on Monday the 12th Jan.

We have two large bags (a large ski bag and a large suitcase) with us for the first 7 day Green pass journeys. Can we take them on the train? do we need to book them? This is the reason why we are considering the green pass.

Thank you for your consideration,
Susie

  • Hello, thank you for your question.

For the first 7days Green Pass, you can take your big laggage in the bullet train. In general, when you travel to ski area in Japan, each bullet train will have space inside for big luggage like ski and snowboad bags. So maybe you don't need to buy Green Pass.

You can use your pass for these itineary:
    Niseko - Aomori 10830 yen
Aomori - Sukayu onsen (by JR bus) 1340 yen
Sukayu onsen - Aomori (by JR bus) 1340 yen
    Aomori - Hakuba 20430 yen

So your itinerary is worthwhile for 7 days ordinary national pass. If you would like to add Green pass advantage, you can also take 7 days Green pass. But for Green pass you have to book your seat before you take the train. please check http://www.japan-rail-pass.com/common-questions/advantages-green-japan-rail-pass

For your second pass, you can use your pass from Myoko to Kyoto.
With 7 day national Pass you can go till Kochi too. If you will go back to Tokyo in 7 days, your pass is already worthwhile!

If you have more question, don't hesitate to ask us.

    Thank you,

    Best regards,
