Osaka-Kyoto-Shirakawa-Takayama

We are planning to stay in Osaka for 9 days and do side trips to Kyoto for 2 days, and also do a day trip if possible to Shirakawa and Takayama. Which JR pass would accommodate this itinerary and trains or transpo to take from Osaka going to Takayama and Shirakawa?

A day trip to Takayama and Shirakawago is simply not realistic. From Osaka to Takayama is about 3½ hours, with another hour plus bus ride to Shirakawago.
