How far in advance can we book our JR Green car seat?

Hi
We will be in Tokyo for 4 days before joining a 15-day cruise. After the cruise, we will use our JR pass to go from Yokohama to Toyama.

My question is – when we are in Tokyo, are we able to book our JR seats for Yokohama to Toyama, for travel which is about 2 weeks later?

If you have an activated pass or ticket, then yes.

So, in Tokyo, we activate the Pass to start 2 weeks later. And then, we book the seats at the same time?

Another question - Since we are staying in Ginza (Hotel Oriental Express Ginza), will it be less crowded to activate and book the seats in Tsukiji Station instead of Tokyo main station?

1. Yes. You can check rail schedules on Hyperdia.

Under "More Options", with a full JR pass, be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box since you can't ride that train using the pass. You don't list your whole itinerary, but before getting any pass, make sure you are not losing money on one first.

2. You can't activate your voucher into a pass just anywhere. You have to go to one of the travel service centers (generally at main stations).
