7 day pass or 14 day pass?

Hi,
We plan to travel to Japan from the 15th to the 30th of October 2016.
We arrive to Narita at around 19:00 on the 15th.From there our initial plan is:

- 15th to 18th: Tokyo
- 18th to 20th - Ito
- 20th to 24th / 25th - Kyoto (w/ one day trip to Nara)
- 25th to 26th - Koyasan
- 26th to 29th - Tokyo (possible day trip to Nikko)

You advice on the validity of the rail pass would be most useful.
Thanks.
Pedro

    Hi Pedro,

A 7-day pass would need to cover both the Ito-Kyoto trip and the return Osaka-Tokyo trip to be worth getting, which it doesn't. So I wouldn't recommend one for you.

The 14-day JR Pass *might* just about pay off if you took the day trip to Nikko too, but not by much. Another day trip somewhere could make it more worthwhile, if you can fit one in.

Be aware that no JR Pass covers travel to Koyasan, since to get there you need to take the Nankai Koya Line to Gokurabashi and then a cable car to Koyasan, both of which are not covered by the pass.
