Complex Japan itinerary question

Hello

I'll be in Japan for 9 days. I'm arriving in Narita airport and will want to go to Osaka and stay at Mount Koyasan south of there - then after that go stay in a farmhouse near Shirakawa-go and Gokoyama region and then spend the rest of the time around Tokyo. I think the JR Rail pass is the best to get between the bigger cities but will it cover any of the other traveling to the more out of the way regions ? What other passes might I need to go to these places?

Thank you

    Hello JKohn,

Thank you for your question. A JR Pass will cover a lot of the major travel across Japan, but some of those places need to be accessed by private lines, such at Mt. Koya (Nankai Railways) and the Nohi Bus from Takayama to Shirakawa-go. It is more economical to supplement a JR Pass with individual tickets in these cases.
