will it cover?

Hi experts,

I've been doing a lot of searching and calculating and got really confused!
My trip is going to be as follows:
Tokyo to Fukuoka (I understand that I cannot use the nozomi line)
Fukuoka to Kobe (is there a direct shinkansen line, and will the jr pass cover it?)
Kobe to Osaka (is this covered by jr pass?)
Osaka to Tokyo (I believe this one is straightforward and jr pass covers it)

Could you please advise me and let me know if the JR pass will cover these trips?

Regards,

  • Hi,
JR covers all those routes. The Nozomi is not a route but the fastest type of bullet train that runs on it. As long as you don't use that or any Mizuho train, you'll be fine. Look for a Sakura or Hikari train. Try to avoid Kodama trains if you can since they stop at every single bullet train station.
You can see regular fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia.

Under "More Options", be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box since you can't ride that train using the pass.

You should not miss Fukuoka - there are many good sight to see that few are aware of. There is a good guide at:

  • thanks so much for the advice. I checked the link and did some calculations, it seems that it will cost me exactly the amount of a 14day green car pass. So I guess I will go for the 14 day pass, it fits my schedule and since green car = total regular car cost, it would be worth it
