Here's my itinenary:- 26-29/3 : Tokyo 30/3 : Hakone 31/3-1/4 : Takayama & Shirakawago 2-4/4 : Kyoto 5/4 : Hiroshima (day trip from Kyoto) 6-8/4 : Osaka (inc daytrip to Nara & Rinku outlet) 9/4 : Back to Tokyo Haneda to catch the flight
Is it better to get a 14D JR pass and activate it on 27/3? Can the JR pass covers most of the routes above or I still need to get other passes?
You can see regular fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia. http://www.hyperdia.com Under "More Options", be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box if on a JR Pass since you can't ride that train using the pass.

Appreciate your help. Thanks!
A 14 day pass will pay off well for your plans, but you will still need to pay for a few things - there is no JR access to all the sights of Hakone, so you can take the bullet train to Odawara and then get a Hakone Free Pass.

The Loop Course is a common way to see all the sights and takes a full day.

You should start using the JRpass as you say from Mar 27.
There is no rail access at all to Shirakawago so you'll need to pay for the bus there.

If you want to use a Tokyo subway, you might consider a 2 or 3 day subway pass.
