Hello everyone,
i'll be in Japan Tokyo for 14 days in September. I'm thinking about buying a JR pass. Cities i want to visit are Kyoto, Hiroshima and maybe Osaka or another place. I would travel from Tokyo in the early morning to Kyoto for example then to Hiroshima and back to Tokyo. If I like the place i might stay an extra day in each city (so 4-6 days out of Tokyo) and take a capsule hotel.
would the round trip (Tokyo-Kyoto-Hiroshima-Tokyo) safe me some money with the 7day pass or would it be cheaper to get tickets on its own?
thanks alot

Yes, if you took the train all the way from Tokyo to Hiroshima and back within 7 days, using the 7-day JR Pass would definitely be cheaper compared with buying regular tickets! Stopping in Kyoto on the way would further add to your savings.
Japan Experience
We will be in Japan for about 9 days, arriving at Kansai and leaving from Tokyo. As we don't have much time and there is so much to see in both Kyoto and Tokyo, I'm thinking we'll do one or maybe two day trips, maybe to see Osaka (from Kyoto) and Nikko (from Tokyo). Should we get a JR Pass or would we do alright buying tickets as we go since we just need a one way?
Unless you significantly add more travel, like a day trip down to Hiroshima, a 7 day pass would not pay off. The Icoca & Haruka discount ticket might make sense for getting in from KIX and around the area, plus within Tokyo if you want.

For Nikko, there is also the Nikko Pass.

If leaving from Narita, one of the cheapest and most convenient ways is the 1000 yen bus.

There is also a 48 and 72 hour Tokyo subway day pass that can save you some money.
