Hello arriving to Tokyo by the end of the week can someone please help with suggestions on the following:
Arriving March 2 in Tokyo
March 3: want to take the train to Kyoto (can we use a JR pass for this?)
March 9: leaving Shibuya to Narita Airport (can we still use the JR pass to get there?)
We are coming back to Tokyo for a few days and not sure if the JR pass covers most transportation or do we need a Metro Pass as well?
Thank you in advance for helping me out! All help is appreciated.

2) Yes https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/nex/
Make sure your first day for the pass is set as Mar 3.
The Pass does not cover city buses, subways etc.
You can see regular fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia.

Under "More Options", be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box since you can't ride that train using the pass.
You don't give any info on your plans, but aside from Kyoto, a half-day in Nara is well worth it also. Plus you can also go to Osaka in the evening if you wish.

Thank you thank you thank you!!
Should I buy the pass here in the U.S, before I arrive or just wait till Saturday when I get there?
We are only in Kyoto for 3 days.. I keep reading Nara is a must.
