HELP with JR Rail pass

Hello, I will be traveling in Japan for 2 weeks and would like advice on which trains to take and make sure the 2 week Rail pass is worth it. The itinerary may seem all over the place but we are scheduling it around family we will be meeting while there.

We will be flying into Tokyo - Haneda then heading to Mt Fuji area (Yokowari, Fuji City, Shizuoka Pref). From there we will head to kyoto for several days then back to Tokyo. After Tokyo will head to Misawa for the last few days of our trip. The last day we will journey back to Tokyo- Haneda for our flight home.

Tokyo(Haneda) - Mt Fuji - Kyoto - Tokyo - Misawa - Tokyo(Haneda)

Any and all suggestions and feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you!

    Hi,
Yes, a 14 day pass would pay off very well.
Please be aware though for the Hayabusa bullet train from Tokyo going to Misawa, seat reservations are required (they are free with the pass). You can do them in any JR office before your trip.

Thank you for your response! Will I need to take the bullet from Tokyo to Hachinohe then a local train to Misawa?

    Hi,
Yes, the bullet train for you only goes up to Hachinohe. Make sure you take the JR train from Hachinohe and not the Aoimori Railway.

You can see regular fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia.

Under "More Options", be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box for the routes south of Tokyo since you can't ride that train using the pass.

    Hello,
I am planning to have traveling from Haneda-Osaka-Kyoto-Osaka-Tokyo-Mt.Fuji-Tokyo-Haneda. I am pretty sure that I should buy JR Pass to take Shinkansen for the destination from Haneda to Osaka, from Osaka to Tokyo and also from Tokyo to Mt.Fuji.
Since I will go around Osaka, Kyoto and also Tokyo, should I buy the Kansai Regional Pass and East Regional Pass also to accommodate my traveling, or those Regional Passes have been covered by JR Pass?
Please give me some advice. Thank you.

    Hi,
First, it's better to start a new thread and not piggyback your question on someone else's.

You give no time frame, but if you leave and return within 7 days you almost pay for the pass from Tokyo to Kansai and back. If you add in the trip to Odawara to see the Mt Fuji area, then you'd more than break even.
That said, the japanican ticket would likely work out cheaper for you.

It doesn't cover from Haneda to Shinagawa to catch the bullet train, nor going between cities in Kansai, but those legs are very cheap and you'd still come out ahead.
For Hakone, you can get a Hakone Free Pass leaving from either Shinjuku in Tokyo or from Odawara.

If you have the full JR Pass, you don't need any regional passes for Kansai, and the JR East regional passes have nothing to do with your plans. Only the Fuji area is not covered by any JR Pass.
You should also take at least half a day an see Nara near Kyoto - it has some of Japan's best sights.
