Hi,
I am just trying to decide if 1 of the above would be suitable for 4 adults traveling from Hiroshima to Kyoto, day trip to Nara( from Kyoto) then on to Osaka (from Kyoto) to the airport. The dates would be 7 to 11 Feb 2018.
Apart from the duration of either 5 days or 7 days, I am unsure of the differences between the 2. Thanks.

Honestly I can't tell what you are comparing here. JR West has several rail passes.

You may be mentioning the Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass for one.
It looks like you could barely break even on it. For the other pass you mention, the Sanyo Sanin pass, you'd lose money on it.

It sounds as if we may be better off getting individual tickets then.
Would you know if with the recent changes in eg Pasmo cards, we can use this to travel within Hiroshima and Kyoto for the little trips we cannot do by walking?
Thanks again.

You can use Pasmo and other IC cards on nearly anything, but there is virtually no savings in it - it's just more convenient than carrying around a whole bunch of change.
