Could you suggest what would be most economical for our itinerary?
At present, this is definite:
Day 1 Tokyo to Osaka
Day 5 Osaka to Kyoto
Day 9 Kyoto to Tokyo
It is possible that we might add additional stops between these locations. Any suggestions will be helpful.

The only pass that would fit your itinerary is the national pass. It only exists in 7 or 14 days though. To get more out of the pass, I would suggest perhaps doing side trips Himeji, Kobe, or even Kanazawa on your way back to Tokyo from Kyoto.
