My first visit to Japan, will be landing in haneda on 19th Mar and returning 26th Mar (18:10) flight from Narita. we planning to stay osaka, kyoto & kobe for 5 nights & back to tokyo for 2 nights, visit Mt Fuji, please advise.
Thanks, Tenjin! I'm quite confuse about JR Pass! We will arrive Haneda on 19th Mar at 09:40, and planning to travel to Osaka for 4 nights, tentatively, hope to visit kyoto, kanazawa, Kobe then back to Narita to visit Mt. Fuji. Total 7 nights in Japan. Would you help to advise which JR PASS to purchase? Beside, where is the nearest office to exchange JR pass in Hanada?
Hi, As for the pass, you could if you want save a little money using the Hokuriku Arch Pass instead of the full JR Pass. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361_arch.html On the down side, you'd need to return the same way, which takes 2 hours longer than the straighter Tokaido route you could use with the full JR Pass. You'd also need to go back to Tokyo before going to the Fuji area. So it's your choice. You should not skip Nara either while down in Kansai. The Todaiji Temple is a must see place. If you want to see the Fuji area, Hakone is the most convenient, and while you can't do it with a JR pass, a Hakone Free Pass can save you some money.

If you don't end up using the Narita Express train, the 1000 yen bus is a cheap way to Narita.

Clearly, Nikko and Otsuki are not covered.
For Nikko, you might consider getting a Tobu Nikko Free Pass:
