Hi, please advice us whether to get JR pass or Regional pass for travelling while holiday in Osaka, Kyoto and Nara...thanks. P.S. if times allow might drop by Tokyo also....
Or if you take a day trip to see Himeji (with Japan's best castle, and Kokoen Garden next door) then a one day Kansai Area Pass is good. https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361_03.html
I suggest you take at least half a day and see Nara too - it was also a former capital and has some of Japan's best sights. Missing the Todaiji Great Buddha would be a tragedy. Nara Park has a lot of other great places, such as Kasuga Shrine, Kofukuji Temple, the Isuien and Yoshikien Gardens, and feeding the many deer in the area. On one evening, you could also go and see Kobe.
You can see regular fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia. http://www.hyperdia.com Under "More Options", be sure to uncheck the Nozomi box since you can't ride that train if you are using the JR pass.

For just within the Kansai area, no pass really pays off for you.
Although the Icoca & Haruka discount ticket might help.

The Hankyu Tourist Pass may help you too, although its coverage is limited.
