Hi all,
I know is kinda early to plan the trip for April 17 but understand that April will have lots of foreigner due to cherry blossom season hence wish to get the flight tickets way in advance.
Below is my preliminary itinerary for the trip and would appreciate it if you could give me some advice on it ^^: -
13 April reach Osaka
14 April Takayama
15 April Takayama
16 April Shirakawago then Kanazawa
17 April Kanazawa: Tateyama-Kurobe-Alpine Route
18 April Kyoto
19 April Kyoto:
20 April Kyoto/ Nara
21 April Osaka
22 April bye
I also have queries on the followings: -
a. Will the JR regional pass (takayama hokuriku pass) sufficient to cover my trip from 14 to 18 April route? Is it worth to grab the said pass?
b. Is the above mentioned pass including the nohi bus from Takayama to Shirakawago to Kanazawa? If yes, do I need to do reservation for the bus? How can I do the reservation?
c. Will shiragawago have luggage storage facilities even for the big suitcase?
Thanks,
Zhao

Well first, every year is a bit different, but on average for the times you give, you'd be lucky to catch the end of the blossoms unless you went much further north or high in the mountains.
Info on the Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass is here:

As you can see, it does not cover the Tateyama-Kurobe-Alpine Route.
You also might look at the Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto Area Tourist Pass:

For a cheap way back from Nagoya you also might look at the Kintetsu Rail Pass:

I've never looked for any large baggage storage at Shirakawago or near there. But there are plenty of luggage forwarding services who can deliver a bag at a future time and place you designate, so it basically does the same thing if not make it even more convenient for you.
