Hi all!
It is my first time going to Japan arriving Nov 16th. I am hoping someone could help me with my itinerary below and whether a Green JR pass is worth it or should I just pay for individual train tickets. Any feedback is much appreciated!
3 days in Tokyo with day trip to Nikko
1 day in Hakone
4 days in Kyoto with day trip to Nara
1 day in Mount Koya
2 days in Shirakawago
2 days in Yamanouchi to see snow monkeys
1 day back to Tokyo to head home.
If you have any other suggestions in terms of itinerary, I would love to hear from you!
Thank you so much in advance!

Yes a JR Pass would pay off quite handsomely for your plans - but a few caveats. The first is you can only use it part way to Odawara to get to Hakone. After that a Hakone Free Pass can help you a lot.

For Koyasan, use a Koyasan World Heritage Ticket:

For the Snow Monkeys, use a Snow Monkey Pass:

While visiting Kyoto, after the temples and shrines close around 5 PM, you can go to Kobe or Osaka for the evening. Both are a lot of fun.
