Could anyone please advise me of the best pass/es to use for the following trip we are doing in January 2017. Arrive Osaka and go straight to hotel in Kyoto, spend 5 nights in Kyoto (day trips to Nara, Osaka, Hiroshima and Myajima), then travel to Hakuba to stay for 5 nights (skiing) and then Tokyo for 4 nights (day trip to Hakone/ Mt Fuji area). Altogether we are there for 13 days, so I was wondering if it is worth getting a 14 day rail pass when we are staying in Hakuba for 5 nights and not moving around then? Or should we get the West regional pass for 5 days (Kyoto area) and do the other trips point to point? How do we travel around Tokyo, is there a type of pass? Thanks to anyone who has advice for me.

You'd get the greatest savings by doing Hiroshima/Miyajima on your last day in Kansai, then going to Hakuba by way of Nagano, then going to Tokyo, all within 7 days. The 14 day pass would not pay off.
For getting from KIX and seeing Kansai, you might look at the Icoca & Haruka discount ticket:

For Hiroshima, you can use the JR Pass on the Hiroshima Loop Bus, as well as the ferry to Miyajima (there are 2 ferry companies at the port - make sure you go to the JR one).
Within Tokyo a 3 day subway pass can save you some good money.

The one day pass though is almost impossible to justify.
For the Mt Fuji area, look at the Odakyu passes:

And if leaving Japan from Narita, the ¥1000 yen bus is the cheapest way out.
