Dear all, I need help to decide if I should purchase JR Pass?
7 days or 14 days pass?
My Trip Itinerary in Dec 2016:
Day 1 Kansai Airport to Osaka Namba, stay for 3 nights.
Day 4 Osaka -> Kyoto for 3 nights stay.
Day 7 Kyoto -> Tokyo (1 night)
Day 8 Tokyo -> Echigo Yuwaza (1 night)
Day 9 Echigo Yuwaza -> Tokyo (2 nights)
Day 11 Tokyo -> Haneda Airport T1
As you can see, my total trip is 11 days 10 nights.
So if I get the 7days Pass, I can only start using the pass on day 7 (Kyoto to Tokyo by Shinkansen) and thereafter, which I think can maximize the usage of my 7-days pass. Any other recommendation?
I would like to check if JR Pass can use for JR Yamanote Line?
Thanks in advance.

The truth is that without adding more itinerary, neither pass would pay off for you.
You can see regular fares, routes and schedules on Hyperdia.

Yes, you could use the JR Pass on the Yamanote Line, but fares are so low they would not help much to recoup the pass cost.
24 Dec Tokyo -> Echigo Yuwaza : Joetsu Shinkansen 6,460yen
25 Dec Echigo Yuwaza -> Tokyo : Joetsu Shinkansen 6,660yen
27 Dec / Ikebukuro -> Haneda airport Terminal 1 / 750yen
JR Yamanote Line(Outer loop) for OSAKI
Transfer @ HAMAMATSUCHO
Tokyo Monorail Local for HANEDA AIRPORT TERMINAL 2
Total = 27470 yen
7 consecutive days ordinary pass = 29,110 yen
So It does not pay off the pass.
Even so, It is just about the same amount.
Thanks for your advice!
You're welcome of course, but you don't seem to understand that you can't take the Nozomi with the JR Pass. Plus the charges you are using are with the extra charge of advanced seat reservations, which are really not necessary (with the Pass they're a free perk thrown in).
Since you are already seeing Tokyo, you can largely skip Osaka during the day. I suggest you take a day away from Osaka and use it for Kyoto, and take a day away from Kyoto and do a day trip to someplace like Himeji (with Japan's finest castle)

or you could do a day trip to Hiroshima/Miyajima and in either case start to get some huge savings using the rail pass.
There are some good previews of the places you may want to see on:
