Hello,
I am going to Japan on March 24th, itinerary as follows:
Day 1-4 Tokyo
Day 5-7 Kyoto
Day 8 Osaka
Day 9-11 Hakone
Day 12-14 Tokyo
Please would you recommend which rail pass would be best for me to buy?
Also looking for suggestions on things to do in Hakone. Is the ropeway still closed?
Many thanks in advance for your kind help and reply.

The only pass that you can use for your journeys would be the national JR Pass, which is available for 7,14 or 21 days. Unfortunately all you journeys are just over 7 days. You could either purchase a 7 day JR Pass, which would give you some flexibility, and a one way from Odawara to Tokyo or purchase single journeys. You can use this website, www.hyperdia.com, to find out the prices of train journeys. It works out about the same price either way.
You can find suggestions of where to go in Hakone here: https://www.japan-experience.com/city-hakone
Yes the ropeway is still suspended, however there is a replacement bus servcie, you can find information on the official website:

Hope that helps
