Sapporo to Tokyo

I am planning to catch JR rail from Sapporo to Tokyo. Do you have any suggestion. Do I need to interchange from any station?

If you are using a JR Pass this route is covered, from Sapporo take the JR Hokuto Ltd Express to Hakodate. From Hakodate to Shin-Aomori Station take the JR Hakucho Ltd Exp. Then from Shin-Aomori Station take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen to Tokyo.
