Hello, we are spending 2 weeks in Japan in March/April. We are landing at Narita, spending a few days in Shinjuku, then on to Nozawa Onsen for a few days. From there we head to Kyoto, and back to Tokyo via Hakone. Is the JR East pass the best option for us? Thank you for you help.

Thank you for your email. The JR East pass would only cover your journey from Tokyo to Nozawa Onsen, but it would not cover your journey to Kyoto, Hakone and back to Tokyo. The only pass that would cover all these areas is the JR national pass which is available for 7,14 or 21 days. If you purchased the 14 day JR Pass this would cover your journey to and from Narita airport as well.
