Please can you advise me which rail pass to purchase for the following travel itinerary.

Hi there

We arrive in Tokyo on 28th March. We are a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children aged 3, 6 and 10 years). We stay in Tokyo for 6 nights leaving on 2nd April to stay in Hakone for 2 nights. We then leave for Naoshima the Art Island in the South on the 4th April. We leave Naoshima on the 7th April to goto Kyoto for 3 nights and then finally back to Tokyo on the 10th April. I realise that we will have to purchase a 2 weeks pass but would like advice if we can travel straight from Hakone to Naoshima without having to go back to Tokyo.

Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

What is the closest train station to where you are staying in Hakone? You can find a useful map here http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e5206.html. If you can the best station to get to would be Odawara.

The website Hyperdia.com is very useful for working out which routes and trains to take. To be sure you can use the JR Pass you will need to go to search details and untick Nozomi and private railways. The station that you need to travel to is Uno, this is where you can take the ferry to Naoshima. You will need to pay for the ferry separately as this is not covered by the JR Pass. From Odawara you will need to change twice once at Shin Osaka and then Okayama. Hope this helps.

    Best regards
