JR Pass or Regional Pass

I am not sure how to maximize the JR Pass or Regional Pass with this itinerary in May:

5-8: Kokura/Kitakyushu including Kawachi Wisteria Garden, Hirodai Country Side Park

8-11: Fukuoka including Nagasaki

11-14: Tottori including Okayama

14 - 18: Mito including Hitachi Seaside Park, Chichibu Hitsujiyama Park, Nikko

18-20 : Tokyo

20-21: Matsumoto

21-23: Takayama including Gokayama, Shirakawago

23-25: Toyoma including Alpine Route

25-26: Omachi Onsenkyo

26-29: Nagoya

Especially since JR Pass is not valid on part of the Alpine Route and the Sanyo Shinkansen line in Kitakyushu. Your comments will be most appreciated.

    Hi SEINAH

For your itinerary the only pass that will cover all these areas is the Japan Rail Pass.

Hyperdia is very convenient to calculate if a Japan Rail Pass is worth buying in your case and to know which length is most cost-effective for your travel. Please visit hyperdia.com:

    - In search conditions, write the departure and arrival location (day and time does not really matter)
    - The search will provide you the fare for this travel (check "total price" under "take time")
    - Do the same for all your trips by train.
    - Just compare with the price of a Japan Rail Pass 7, 14 or 21 days by checking the price here : http://www.japan-rail-pass.com/jr-pass

You want to be sure you can access to the trains for free with a Japan Rail Pass :
    - In “search details”, unclick “Nozomi, Mizuho, Hayabusa Shinkansen” and “private railway”.
    - The search result will show you all the trains you can access with a Japan Rail Pass.

    Hope that helps.

    Best regards
