Clarification on the maximum age of the kid

Can a kid born in Aug 2004 still purchase a child JR pass if she is travelling to Japan in June 2016?

As it says on the official page with its info:
http://www.japanrailpass.net/en/about_jrp.html

"Children who are age 6 through 11 as of the date on which the exchange order is issued are eligible for child PASS prices."

However in another thread you gave your itinerary and a JR Pass would not pay off for it, so it's all just a moot point.
