Travel in May 2016

Hi

i've read as many posts as i can and it looks like the 7 day Rail Pass is the solution for us - especially the "green" option.

narita - tokyo
tokyo - kyoto
kyoto - Hiroshima (return)
kyoto - osaka (airport).

Worth taking the Green carriage option on this selection of journeys? 21st May onwards so hoping not the busiest week of the year

Thanks

john

    Hi JohnHK,

If all the journeys you have listed are taking place within a 7-day period, a 7-day JR Pass would be a great option for you, and would save you quite a bit of money!

Early May is busiest because of the Golden Week holiday, so in late May you shouldn't have to worry too much about getting seats on the trains that you need. The ordinary JR Pass still allows for seat reservations if you need them, though.

The Green Pass offers larger seats in first class with more legroom, foot rests, and handy personal power sockets for charging electronics (be sure to remember an adaptor!) but that's about the extent of the difference, so opting for this pass is a luxury rather than a necessity. It's up to you.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind Regards,
