I wish to purchase a seven jr rail pass. I only intend to use it on two or three days only. Is this allowed? I do not want to commit myself to travelling on seven consecutive days.
Of course it is allowed. It's ride as much as you like - you can ride morning til night for 7 straight days, or not ride at all. JR doesn't care either way - but it's up to you to make sure your itinerary justifies the cost of the pass.
