Hi,
Two teachers plus about ten students planning a trip to Tokyo in November. We are on a budget and are, therefore, looking for reasonable prices.
Can someone please give suggestions for the following:
1. Transport from Narita to Tokyo (cheapest and convenient too)
I've been reading about the airport limousine and train but not sure which one to take and which one is better.
2. Reasonably priced hotels in Tokyo with a convenient location that makes it possible for us to do a tour of Tokyo using the underground train network. Hotels MUST have twin beds and, more importantly, a private bathroom.
3. Places to see in Tokyo city.
4. We are thinking of a day trip to Mt. Fuji. Would preferably like a minivan with a tour guide that would pick us up at the hotel and drop off too.
5. Also planning a trip to Nikko. Suggestions welcome.
6. We would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Thank you in advance,
Rose

If you're going to use the subways for a few days, then a 2 or 3 day subway pass is a great way to save.

For inexpensive hotels, try a business hotel - they are clean, quiet, usually conveniently located, have free wi-fi and some even throw in breakfast for free. Some major chains are Superhotel, Toyoko Inn, Route Inn, Dormy Inn, and Comfort Inn.
For what to see, it's all up to your interests - there is something for nearly anyone. Try looking through:

For city views, the Sky Tree wins, hands down. But it's very pricey. If you want free, there's no shortage there either:

If you want to see the Mt Fuji area, you basically have 2 choices - Hakone or the Fuji 5 Lakes area. Both have similarities but are not the same.

You don't need expensive guides or help. There are cheap Odakyu passes that can make it very easy and affordable:

The loop cours for Hakone is very simple to follow:

For Nikko, again, very easy - use a Tobu Nikko Free Pass:

I'd also suggest if you can, take a night and spend it at a Japanese inn (ryokan) for a real Japan experience. There are some very expensive ones but also some very inexpensive ones. You might look through:

With the money you save from the passes and other things, hopefully you can splurge a bit for one night.
Thanks for all the detailed (especially with all the links) information that you've provided. I will start first with some of your hotel suggestions and then take it from there.
Will probably be asking you more questions:-))
Thanks once again!
